Earth Day 2025
This Earth Day, Apr 22, 2025, we can all do what we can in our corner of the world.
We all can make positive change for this amazing planet we call Earth.
The achievements of young changemakers can inspire us all to do our part to help create a better future. April 22, 2025 is Earth Day!
The official theme of Earth Day 2025 is “Our Power, Our Planet“. In the next six weeks, we will share with you seven stories related to Earth Day in the region in which Sowing Opportunities works, in the eastern highlands of Alta Verapaz, Guatemala.
Today, we will hear the story of two students who are inspirational in their dedication and successes:
Damaris Mis, 11, is the fifth of nine siblings. She is in third grade, and her favorite subject is math. At the School in Sisbilhá, Guatemala, she enjoys playing with her friends and tending to the gardens. When she grows up, she wants to be a teacher and to support her parents.
Dominga Tzuy is 9 years old and the ninth of 10 siblings. She likes math and enjoys cultivating plants. When she grows up, she wants to be a chef and to support her parents.
