Since 2022, Sowing Opportunities, Inc. has been building agricultural capacity, resources, and leadership for indigenous communities in Eastern Alta Verapaz, Guatemala.
From a hopeless, destitute existence, families in this forgotten region now have flourishing greenhouses that feed their families and allow them to have an income through the sale of surplus vegetables in the local market.
Starting with one village, our team is now providing resources where there were none, to five groups in three villages including a #school.
What’s most exciting is seeing the students who now have agriculture as part of their curriculum, learn to care for their plants, to have enough for regular lunches at school, to teach their families in their own greenhouses, and to have the skills to teach future generations!
