Commemorating Indigenous Peoples Day on October 14, 2024

Since October 2021, Indigenous Peoples Day has been a U.S. holiday.  We at Sowing Opportunities are proud to say that we celebrate the indigenous peoples every day in the remote villages in the region of Eastern Alta Verapaz, Guatemala.

To raise funds for our greenhouse projects, we are partnering with A Thread of Hope Guatemala Fair Trade.  Our next upcoming fair is:

Monday, October 14, 2024: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. 4th Annual Indigenous People’s Day Celebration, Waterfront Promenade Park, 22 Merrimac St., Newburyport, MA 01950

From a forgotten region where the people were relegated to unfarmable land, their greenhouses, under the supervision of Sowing Opportunities’ project manager and agricultural engineer, with support from our social worker, are flourishing.  They are able to feed their children nutritious foods.  And, we are grateful for the opportunity to be part of their development.

Look at the seedlings that our project manager delivered (see video):

And, look at how the greenhouses are verdant and strong (see video):

Please help us to continue to celebrate the indigenous people in this previously forgotten area of Guatemala as they cultivate in their own indigenous communities.  You can make your donation at bit.ly/3qTdfbK

Thank you!
