The journey is long and risky for our team to travel to the remote, indigenous region where Sowing Opportunities has its service area in Eastern Alta Verapaz.
Two weeks ago the team visited the villages of Chajmaic, Salaguna, and Sisbilhá, to bring additional seedlings and supplies (fertilizer, insecticide) to the three villages where we are working and to check on their progress.
Here is a 2-minute video documentation of their travel:
Our team checked on the progress of the greenhouses. The mostly women-led families continue to be upbeat and dedicated, and they are able to address their families’ needs of hunger and nutrition.
You can view one mother’s story in this 2-minute video: Emma Ical receives new seedlings in Sisbilhá, Guatemala:
There are two main ways that Sowing Opportunities raises funds for its projects in Eastern Alta Verapaz – selling Guatemalan Fair Trade handicrafts at fairs in partnership with A Thread of Hope Guatemala Fair Trade, and your donations.

As always, we are grateful for your support of people in this forgotten part of the world.
Thank you,
