SowingOps’ project manager coming mid-February from Guatemala

Sowing Opportunities’ project manager is coming from Guatemala mid-February.

Ricardo is booked to speak at Harvard-Epworth United Methodist Church in Cambridge on Sunday morning, February 15.

If you have a suggested venue for him to speak, please email info@sowingops.org .

Ricardo San José Roca has been Sowing Opportunities’ project manager since 2015.  He has a Bachelor of Science degree and licensure in Theology.  For his thesis paper, he sought somewhere to practice social welfare, with a focus on spiritual passion and a desire to serve the people of his native Guatemala.

Prior to and while studying, he worked as a project manager on building construction sites, as well as in other settings.

Ricardo leads the Guatemalan team which has the capability of working across cultures, including with those who cannot read or write or speak the same language, garnering and distributing resources through relations building, training in difficult terrain and conditions, including rocky soil, blazing sun with no shade and torrential rains from hurricanes, in an area where water accessibility and other resources are scarce.

Under his guidance, the Guatemalan team has a strong capacity not only to learn the needs of others by listening, but also to teach skills – of agricultural development, developing an economy, communication, and collaboration – that are transferable through mentorship and will last generations.
